This is indeed a masterpiece of the genre. And, as you aptly observed, the cinematography & the score, too, do deserve mention. Thanks a lot Sam for sharing your love for this film.Shubhajithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02040495040897333606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2017832040275963428.post-9893252353676971882013-05-20T14:52:38.716+05:302013-05-20T14:52:38.716+05:30@King Viswa:

So I guess it boils down to personal preferences.

Personally, I'd keep only Wild Bunch at same or similar level with Searchers. But, that said, all these are great films, and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

As for High Noon, well, I guess I can understand what your stand. So yes, we can always take it up for discussion at some other time :)Shubhajithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02040495040897333606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2017832040275963428.post-43194155910859375072013-05-20T08:50:58.936+05:302013-05-20T08:50:58.936+05:30You may recall Shubhajit, that this film was the o...You may recall Shubhajit, that this film was the one being watched by Duane and Sonny in one of the last scenes in Peter Bogdonovich's elegiac masterpiece THE LAST PICTURE SHOW. You have framed the thematic content superbly, and certainly it's a benchmark of the genre, revered for all it's components and as a further example of Howard Hawks' diversity. It's true that it's one of Wayne's banner performances, and I'd add that Russell Harlan's black and white cinematography is richly picturesque, and Dimitri Tiomkin contributes a memorable score.Sam Julianonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2017832040275963428.post-12715098503537763172013-05-20T00:33:08.602+05:302013-05-20T00:33:08.602+05:30Well, well, well.
